Leadership

The leadership at Jake E’s Riding Round Up all recognize and accept the responsibilities of the daily oversight and functions for the center with great respect for each other, the memory of Jacob Eli Ewing, and the individuals and families served at Jake E’s Riding Round Up.

Each Board of Director was selected because of their past leadership experience, ability to communicate the mission and vision of Jake E’s Riding Round Up, and their devotion to the proper governance and fiduciary responsibilities necessary to serving as a Board Member.

The Staff and Instructors of Jake E’s Riding Round Up fully accept the responsibility of working together to offer PEACE – People thru Equines Achieving Courage & Empowerment – for the individuals and families receiving services from the center.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

JANA EWING – Founder/Board President/PATH Certified Instructor

jana14Jana Ewing is the founder of Jake E’s Riding Round Up and currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors for the Christ-centered therapeutic equine facility. Jana lost her 3-year-old son Jacob Eli Ewing in a tragic, non-equine related accident in April of 2010. Within days of losing her young son, she began to think about how she would ever find peace again and how she would like to reach out to others dealing with personal challenges. Jana’s desire to help others living with special needs, tragic loss and daily challenges brought her to found Jake E’s Riding Round Up in honor of Jacob. Today, she is thriving with her two sons Caleb and Hayden, and is an active member of Trinity Church in Cedar Hill. Jana is a Certified PATH International Instructor, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education and music from Lamar University. Jana has extensive experience working with those seeking to find courage, peace and hope through prayer and the therapeutic value of a horse-human partnership.

JUDY MACKEY – Board Member

Judy-MackeyJudy Mackey of Terrell, Texas, joined the Jake E’s Riding Round Up Board of Directors in 2014. Originally from Alabama, Judy holds a Bachelors of Science from the University of Alabama and a Masters of Education from Texas A&M Commerce. A retired educator, Judy believes her years working with children originally pulled her toward the local non-profit. She feels that the staff and volunteers at Jake E’s provide a priceless experience for the clients with their expertise, compassion, and knowledge of horses. Judy is passionate about the therapeutic riding facility and has particular interest in Horses for Heroes, the organization’s programs for veterans, since her son is a U.S. Marine. Judy’s daughter Paige Nolan currently serves as a riding instructor for the therapeutic riding center.

 

PAM CORDER – Founding Board Member

Pam CordertPam Corder is currently the Kaufman County Urban Forester and serves as a Founding Board Member for Jake E’s Riding Round Up. Living in Rosser with her husband Shannon and two children, Pam enjoys spending time outdoors with her family. In addition to her responsibilities as a Board Member, Pam is a Certified Arborist and offers support as a consulting Arborist and with the petting barn goats at Jake E’s Riding Round Up . Pam’s desire to help others through equine-assisted activities is the driving force behind her passion for Jake E’s Riding Round Up.

 


DARLA FOUNTAIN – Founding Board Member

Darla FountainDarla Fountain is the sister of Jake E’s founder Jana Ewing and is a Founding Board Member for the therapeutic riding facility. Darla is the owner of Fountain Therapeutic Center in Texarkana, Texas, where she lives with her husband, Chris Fountain, and works as a Speech Pathologist empowering lives one at a time through customized evaluations and treatments. She has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Lamar University. Darla’s background with speech pathology for special needs children allows her to contribute to the mission and development of Jake E’s through her professional experience while honoring her late nephew Jacob Eli Ewing. Darla’s vision for the future of Jake E’s Riding Round Up is to touch and influence as many lives as possible with the love and healing power of the Lord through His people and animals.


HOLLY KRUEGER – Board Member/Board Secretary

Holly KruegerHolly Krueger is from Frisco, Texas, and is the Director of Sales for MediRevv, a healthcare revenue cycle management company. Holly was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and was raised in Franklin, Pennsylvania. She attended The University of New Mexico and then moved to Texas in 1995. Originally drawn to Jake E’s Riding Round Up as an opportunity to teach her son Trey about personal balance and spiritual growth and fulfillment, she says her Saturdays at Jake E’s are always special. A volunteer at heart, Holly believes the Lord brought her to Jake E’s Riding Round Up because of her passion for horses and her longing to help others. She hopes her Board involvement will allow her to contribution to the growth and long term stability of the therapeutic riding facility.


PASTOR GREG RICHARDS – Founding Board Member

Pastor Greg RichardsPastor Greg Richards is the Lead Pastor and Founder of Life Church in Kaufman, Texas, and is a Founding Board Member for Jake E’s Riding Round Up. Pastor Greg is committed to his work throughout the community helping connect God’s people with others while they grow in Jesus Christ. He brings decades of service and knowledge to his role at Jake E’s Riding Round Up. Married for more than 25-years, Pastor Greg and his wife Judy have two daughters, Jordan and Kendall, and a young grandson named Luke.

 

 

HONORABLE JUDGE BRUCE WOOD – Founding Board Member

Dr Bruce WoodThe Honorable Judge Bruce Wood has served as a Kaufman County Judge since 2011 and is a Founding Board Member for Jake E’s Riding Round Up. He holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s and an Educational Doctorate degree from Texas A&M – Commerce. His career as a former teacher, school administrator and superintendent have led Bruce to the realization that facilities like Jake E’s Riding Round Up serve the community at large with meaningful Christ-centered outreach and programs. The Honorable Judge Wood utilizes his professional background for leadership oversight and governance as a Jake E’s Riding Round Up Board Member. He and his wife Susie live in Terrell, Texas, and have three daughters and a son. The Wood family attends First Baptist Church of Terrell, where he serves as a Deacon.

 

STAFF/INSTRUCTORS

AMY HUGHES – Jake E’s Office Coordinator

Amy HughesAmy Hughes loves helping people and serving the Lord. She has served as Office Coordinator for Jake E’s Riding Round Up since May of 2013. Amy grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Kaufman High School. She loves scrapbooking, singing and her daughter Annabelle. Amy currently teaches Sunday School at First Community Church in Crandall. Amy believes the Lord brought her to Jake E’s to make a difference. She is thrilled that her creative skills and administrative experience are being utilized as part of the blessings Jake E’s brings to the special needs community.

 

 

HOLLY HARRIS – PATH International Certified Instructor/Marketing Coordinator

Holly Harris of Wills Point, Texas, offers her services as a PATH International Certified Instructor at Jake E’s Riding Round Up. Holly, a graduate of Texas A&M University, has far-reaching experience in business and with horses. Along with her husband Kerry and grown step-children, Holly raises Tennessee Walking Horses. Holly has a passion for seeing her students succeed and improve their horsemanship skills. Holly’s interest in sharing the joy of the horse-human relationship with special riders has led her to volunteer her services to Jake E’s Riding Round Up as an instructor.

 

 

PATTY MILLIGAN – PATH International Certified Instructor/Coordinator of Therapeutic Activities

PMilligan_tPatty Milligan of Canton, Texas, offers her services as a PATH International Certified Instructor at Jake E’s Riding Round Up. Originally from El Paso, Patty has lived all over the country with her husband David, and their children, during his years in the Military. In the past, she has served in a variety of volunteer roles with non-profits such as the Girl Scouts and the Canton Trail Riders. Working with clients and students at Jake E’s has allowed Patty to fulfill a lifelong dream of working with horses in a therapeutic setting. Patty believes the Lord guided her to Jake E’s Riding Round Up during the Center’s 2011 grand opening. A skilled equestrian that loves sharing her equine knowledge, Patty became a PATH International Certified Instructor in July of 2013.

 

PAIGE NOLEN – PATH International Certified Instructor/Coordinator of Veteran Affairs
PaigeNolanWPaige Nolen is from Canton, Texas, and offers her services as a PATH International Certified Instructor at Jake E’s Riding Round Up. Paige grew up in Terrell and graduated in 1998 from Terrell High School. Today she is a 911 Dispatcher for the Garland Police Department, which gives her the opportunity to help people on a daily basis. She fondly remembers helping her Mom, a now retired Special Ed Teacher, with her students during her summer breaks while in school. She believes those students helped her understand the importance of programs like Jake E’s Riding Round Up. Paige has a lifelong love affair with horses, and says her days at Jake E’s, when she helps to put smiles on rider’s faces while watching them progress as individuals, are her happiest.


KIM YATES – PATH International Certified Instructor/Coordinator of Mental Health & Learning Programs

Kim Yates offers her services as a PATH International Certified Instructor at Jake E’s Riding Round Up. Kim has extensive experience in coaching and leading. She believes the Lord brought her to Jake E’s to combine her love of horses and coaching to have a positive impact on the lives of others. Kim has a passion for enabling her students to achieve more than they ever thought possible through encouragement and empowerment with the horse. Kim holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from the University of Mississippi. She spent 17 years in the pharmaceutical industry where she worked in sales, sales training, sales management, product management, marketing and leadership development. Originally from Tyler, Texas, Kim lives in Canton and is married to her best friend – David Yates.
