Jacob Eli Ewing

Jake E’s Riding Round Up was established in the small Texas town of Kaufman after the untimely death of Jacob Eli Ewing on April 24, 2010, in a tragic non-equine related accident. He was born the first of two twin boys on November 22, 2006, in Dallas, Texas, to Chris Ray Ewing and Jana Rene Ewing of Kaufman.  Jacob’s twin brother Hayden and older brother Caleb continue to thrive today.

Only 3 ½ at the time of his death, Jacob left behind a legacy of love and laughter for his family, for animals and for Jesus. Upon his death, his mother Jana Ewing asked that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Jacob Eli Ewing Memorial Fund. With a fund in place, Jana Ewing embarked on a mission to continue the legacy of love that Jacob had shared throughout his short life. With the help of family, friends and other caring donors, she established Jake E’s Riding Round Up from those first days of despair.

Today, Jacob’s legacy lives on in each smile, each sound of laughter, each horseback ride and each loving touch of a furry creature that occurs on the 65-acre therapeutic riding center. Where tragedy came to visit, healing now resides.

“Some trust in chariots, some trust in horses: but we will trust in the name of the Lord our God.”
