’15 Chuck Wagon Dinner/Fundraiser

On May 2, 2015 the second annual Jake E’s Riding Round Up Chuck Wagon Dinner was a grand success. The beautiful weather added to the festive western atmosphere at the Ranch, while attendees were entertained with a western skit by the Three Cowboys: Deadeye, Marshall and Stumpy to kick the night off.

An extensive silent and live auction organized by Jake E’s volunteer Jennifer Bazhaw helped raise funds for the programs of the riding facility. Attendees enjoyed hayrides, horseshoes, the petting barn and the horses of Jake E’s before dinner. Delicious authentic cowboy cooking by Randy of Chuck Wagon Cuisine Catering Co. with Barbeque Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Potatoes Salas, Cole Slaw, Green Beans, and Chocolate Sheet Cake as well as Peach Cobbler and Homemade Ice Cream helped fill the event attendees with tasty food.

The 2015 Chuck Wagon Dinner program started with the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer for our nation as well as those currently serving in the military. A single white dove was released in memory of the late Jacob Eli Ewing – son of Jake E’s founder Jana Ewing and inspiration for Jake E’s Riding Round Up. Country Christian Singer John Randolph helped fill the evening with great entertainment.

An extra-special additional to the 2015 Chuck Wagon Dinner was when Ewing shared stories of five special students (Taylor, Emily, Addison, Eli and M.J.) at Jake E’s. She explained their individual disabilities and the student’s personal journey there at the facility, while each of the five Jake E’s riders demonstrated skills in the arena. David & Theresa Somerville also shared how much the therapeutic riding facility had helped their daughter Emily while enriching their entire family’s life.

Jake E’s Board Member Judy Mackey also shared with the Chuck Wagon event attendees about the compassion, respect, commitment and dedication of the volunteers and families involved with the programs of Jake E’s Riding Round Up. Riding instructor Kim Yates educated the crowd on the Equine Facilitated Mental Health and Learning (EFMHL) program in place at Jake E’s and discussed how Mental Health Professionals utilize horses to help clients heal.

The Jake E’s Chuck Wagon Dinner and Fundraiser is held annually to raise funds for the programs of the Kaufman-based therapeutic horseback riding facility.
